World's Egg Day, 2nd Friday of October

World’s egg day is celebrated each year on second Friday of October. Today on 11^th of Oct, 2019, World’s egg day was celebrated by Faculty of Animal Husbandry, University of Agriculture Faisalabad.

Respected faculty teachers organized a seminar in which importance of egg was told. Teachers hosted the seminar and explained the interesting facts about eggs. An average of 180 eggs is available to individuals on the yearly basis, 230 to 250 in developed countries and 86 eggs is available to individuals per year in Pakistan.

1 housing societies. Egg has high nutritive value. It is recommended to take two eggs daily as a part of healthy diet. Cholesterol present in egg is needed by children. The proteins, energy, vitamins and the minerals in it are vital for children, adults and old people.

World record is;

Ø 366 eggs per year.

Ø 7 pounds weight.

Ø 9 yolks.

Ø Efficiency of 96-97%.

Health benefits of eggs

Different countries have different liking for eggs. Likewise European likes brown shell eggs whereas white shell is liked by Pakistanis. Brown and green yolk is liked by Chinese and the yellow yolk is liked by Pakistanis. There are some famous idioms used in literature related to eggs. It is a myth that some dairy farmers feed eggs to the dairy beef animals as a protein source, whereas it has nothing to do with it because in rumen it converts into amino acids. If colostrum is not available to calves then the mixture of eggs+milk+caster oil can be fed to it.

At the end of seminar participants were given boiled eggs to eat.

Students of Animal Husbandry enjoyed eating eggs with teachers. Different stalls related to new dishes of eggs were displayed in the department by the students of Animal Husbandry.
