Equipment for modern Dairy Farms
With the increase in labor shortage and increasing labor prices. It has become essential to mechanize the farms to minimize the input cost and to increase the output. In this chapter we have mentioned some modern machines for dairy farms. Their usage will help us to manage the farm more efficiently.
Use of New
Technologies
‘’The use of recent
technologies to increase production and reduce PC, will increase farm income
definitely. The pioneers using the new technologies always get more benefit
than followers. If we compare milk price, average PC and early adopters’
production cost in figure given below, we can understand it from Fig below’’. (Definition from
Dr. Syed Hassan Raza)
Some modern gadgets of
a dairy farm is listed below:
1.
Cow collar: Monitors temperature, activity and send text alerts to mobile.
2.
Virtual Reality Sets: Virtual reality device a psychological effect to convince cows that
they're standing in summer fields, rather than cold wintry ones.
3.
Feed Pushing Robot: Push in the feed in near to animal’s mouth in feed
mangers.
4.
Accelerometer: Graphical representation of activities per day.
5. Disease Detector: Identifies the problems in cattle.
6.
Robotic Milking Unit: Automatically wash and massage teats then milk
them.
7.
Gate check: Detects whether the animal is milked before going in resting area.
8.
Automatic feeding: Throws away silage in feed mangers.
9.
Face detection: Recognizes the animal through camera.
10.
Massaging brush: Brushes massage the body for better circulation.
11.
Capsule: A GPS device injected in rumen to trace the location.
12.
Pedometer: Measures the lying, standing, walking and lameness behavior.
13.
Floating farm: Solar energy based farms built over water lakes and rivers.
14.
Soft wares: Helps to maintain record, get alerts, and track animals.
15.
Cleaning robot: Cleans the floor of dairy farm.
16.
Hug machine: It compresses dairy cows to release their anxiety and increase milk
production. Also called as compressing machine.
17.
Calving sensor: Device attached on tail which detects calving time and send alerts two
hours before calving on the mobile.
18.
Rumi-watch halter: Monitors feeding and ruminating. It indicate an
underlying shift in cow comfort and welfare.
Their are some other interesting inventions coming in future, keep planning and keep thinking.
